Non-regulated plant pests are pests that are present in Latvia or have the potential to be introduced and spread in the territory of Latvia, but are not officially regulated under Latvian or European Union legislation. Like quarantine organisms, unregulated organisms can cause damage to agriculture, forestry or the environment, but to a lesser degree. This group also includes harmful organisms whose potential to damage plants and plant products has not yet been fully investigated and assessed.

Descriptions of unregulated pests

Each pest is identified by a 5-6 character code, e.g. [PSDMAX]. This code is a mnemonic abbreviation of the scientific name of the organism, which remains unchanged and helps to find information on the organism in European Union legislation and in the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organisation (EPPO) database. For more information, see the EPPO database.
