Fire blight buffer zones

On the basis of the Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No 575 of 21 August 2008 "Procedure for Combating and Limiting the Spread of Fire blight", the State Plant Protection Service takes decisions on the application of phytosanitary measures. The decisions designate the site where the pest is found as the outbreak and the area within a radius of 3 km around the outbreak as the buffer zone.

The Decisions establish that the host plants of the bacterial blight (apple (Malus), pear (Pyrus), hawthorn (Crataegus), rowan (Sorbus), cotoneaster, quince (Cydonia, Chaenomeles), corinth (Amelanchier), Eriobotrya and Pyracantha during the flowering period and for at least two weeks after the end of flowering, it is prohibited to bring beehives into the fire blight buffer zone and to move beehives out of the fire blight buffer zone.

The following buffer zone has been established on the land plot in Blīdene parish, Saldus municipality, as well as in the home gardens "Ratnieki", "Lejasmeiri" and "Mežloki":

The following buffer zone has been established in a garden in Puzes parish, Ventspils municipality:

In connection with the backyard garden "Sējēji-2" and "Dzirnavnieki - 2", as well as 'Dzirnavnieki -1', 'Sprūdi', 'Kalnenieki', 'Dreijas', 'Jaunsējēji', 'Sveiles', 'Indras' , 'Liepnieki', 'Šuži', 'Sieciņi', 'Zīles', 'Dzīles', 'Saliņas', 'Gundegas', 'Upesērgļi', 'Upesvītoli', 'Lancenieki', 'Lauki', 'Modernieki' (Decision No. 27-14.31/04), "Lejnieki", "Vecvagari", "Purāni", "Cērpi", "Vārpas" and "Strēlnieki" in Dienvidkurzemes municipality, Nīcas parish, the following buffer zones are established:
