For the control of organisms harmful to crops, the use of plant protection products listed in the Register of Plant Protection Products is authorised in the Republic of Latvia in accordance with the registered use. Upon registration, the labelling text of the plant protection product is approved.
The label text contains information on the intended use of the plant protection product - the crop, the organism targeted, the dose, the number of treatments, the waiting period until harvest, as well as restrictions for the protection of humans, animals and the environment. The labelling of a plant protection product may be changed if the product is re-registered or its use is extended.
When selecting a product, it is important to learn about its spectrum of action i.e. which harmful organisms it can control and which crops the product is registered to be used on. Anyone deciding to use a plant protection product should remember that the use of that product has been evaluated by experts and supported by research.
